Once Upon a Silent Nightmare

Literature Text
I walk among the fallen
In a darkened cemetery
I look up at the waning moon
And collapse to my knees
Do you still remember me?
Do you still bear the scars?
Did you ever wonder why
We have chosen different paths?
Once upon a silent nightmare
A long, long time ago
I knew a fallen angel
Pure as the driven snow
Her silvery hair drew me
Across the starry sky
But I was never close enough
To ask her why do angels cry?
You cried your imperfection
Denied your pretty face
They said you were the devil’s child
And called you a disgrace
I was the only person
Who saw what you truly were
I saw your golden halo
And your lips of finest myrrh
Once upon a silent nightmare
A long, long time ago
I knew a fallen angel
Pure as the driven snow
Her silvery hair drew me
Across the starry sky
But I was never close enough
To ask her why do angels cry?
I should have taken my chance
To tell you how I felt
I knew most of the cards in my hand
Except the ones that you had dealt
Yet somehow the words left me
And we parted as friends
Gradually we slipped away
Doomed to different ends
Now I live a silent nightmare
From a long, long time ago
I knew a fallen angel
Pure as the driven snow
Her silvery hair still draws me
Across the starry sky
But I am never close enough
To ask why does my angel cry?
In a darkened cemetery
I look up at the waning moon
And collapse to my knees
Do you still remember me?
Do you still bear the scars?
Did you ever wonder why
We have chosen different paths?
